Chatting to visitors at the Birmingham Friends of the Earth stall this week has been fantastic. I have found very many inspired, positive people, not shaking their heads at problems related to climate change but instead feeling inspired to do something. The Friends of the Earth stall has shown how people can turn that inspiration and enthusiasm into action.
Campaign postcards and letters to politicians allow people to get in touch with their elected representatives in the UK and European Parliament to let their voice be heard, namely on the issues of biofuels, the climate change bill and aviation.
One thing that has really impressed me about CABE's involvement in this festival is the positive glow it has: both the flourescent branding and the positive glow inside people attending festival events. To be positive about the opportunity to act climate change is a good feeling and is partly why I am involved in environmental campaigning myself.
CABE are showing Birmingham what a wonderful city we would have if we made the necessary changes to mitigate against and adapt to climate change.
